Timothy Spitz & the Telescope Man
SynopsisTimothy Edward Spitz was a child of stories and imagination. Being the son of a watchmaker, he was given all the time in the world to dream of new stories while tinkering away in his father's shop. His stories would often land him in trouble with his mother as they usually kept him from completing his daily chores. One day, Timothy's father disappeared without a trace. He simply vanished. In her grief, Timothy's mother blamed him for his father's disappearance, claiming that it was Tim's never-ending story telling and shenanigans that caused his father to leave. However, Tim believed a different story. "He was taken by the Telescope Man!" Timothy shouted again and again only to have his words fall on his mother's deaf ears. Too caught up in her own mourning, she would no longer listen to Timothy's stories. She would not abide lies and she would not tolerate her son creating tall tales of her husband being kidnapped. Little did she know, that not all of Tim's stories were made up. The Telescope Man was very real and, somehow, Timothy knew it. Timothy sought refuge in the only other place he could call home, the library. While looking through ancient lore, Timothy uncovered a peculiar manuscript. It recounted the story of an unknown evil, a shape-changer that would steal people away in the night. The manuscript also told of ways to spot the evil should it ever appear. The way that Timothy saw the world began to change. He would pass by certain people on the street and could peer through their guises to reveal their true form. He began to uncover the evil that spread throughout the city and spot those who worked for the Telescope Man. Armed with this knowledge Timothy must set out to discover the lair of the Telescope Man, overcome many obstacles, save his father, and defeat the evil that threatens the city. Timothy Spitz & The Telescope Man is the second in a series of dark fables written and illustrated by Gary Laib. |
